Set out on a 3-day Sahara Journey from Marrakech to Fes Desert Tour, where you’ll see sites like the stunning Dades Valley and Kasbah Ait Ben Hadou. End your journey in the vibrant city of Fes, cruise through the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi, and come across Barbary Apes in the Middle Atlas Mountains. Discover Morocco’s breathtaking natural features and rich cultural tapestry.
Your Marrakech to Fes Morocco Desert Trip starts at 7:45 AM when you check out of your hotel or riad and travel through the high Atlas Mountains and Tizi Ntichka Pass to Kasbah AiT Ben Hadou. There will be several stops along the route to improve your experience. Discover the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site, an attraction for several Hollywood blockbusters. We continue our journey to Ouarzazate, where you can stop for a quick photoshoot.
We drive through the gorgeous Valley of the Roses on our way to Boumalne Dades, Qelaa Megouna or Tinghir, in the afternoon, where we end up at your hotel. There will be dinner and lodging for the night, so you can end your day in comfort and fulfillment.
After breakfast, we start our journey today by traveling to the Tinghir oasis via the 1001 Kasbahs road. You will see the ruins of fortified villages that were formerly home to caravan routes until the early 20th century, as well as the stunning scenery along this route. We'll divert out onto a secondary road that leads to the oasis once we arrive at Tinghir, which was once a military post during the French occupation. You are welcome to stroll beside the stream and watch the people who live there working on their farms and herding cattle. The tour culminates at Todgha Gorges, one of the most spectacular locations on the tour.
We eat lunch at a nearby café before traveling to Rissani, which is considered to be one of the holiest towns in Morocco. It is significant since this is where the founder of the current Alaouites dynasty was buried, making it the birthplace of the dynasty. Rissani is also well-known for being the origin of historic caravan routes that led from there to Timbuktu across the Sahara desert. We travel through rugged terrain from Rissani to Merzouga, where our caravan of camels is waiting. Take a camel ride over the dunes of Erg Chebbi to see a breathtaking sunset. We later make our way back to our isolated, Sahara desert camp. We'll be eating dinner outside under the stars while listening to our local nomad hosts' drumming all night long.
After an hour-long camel ride at early morning, enjoy breakfast at the Merzouga camp operator's lodge. After that, give yourself a little time to get ready before saying goodbye to the group/hosts and heading to Fes. You will meet your new driver heading to Fes there. After settling into the van, set out on a long drive to Fes, passing through Errachidia, the Tafilalt region's capital, as you travel through the Ziz Valley.
After stopping for a leisurely lunch in Midelt, the drive continues through the Middle Atlas Mountains, which are home to Berber towns like Imouzzar and Ifran as well as cedar forests. It is expected to arrive in Fes late in the afternoon. The shared desert tour from Marrakech to Fes.
